British Touring Car Championship Driver and International Driver Coach

About Bobby Thompson

Bobby Thompson is a 28-year-old racing driver with multiple seasons of experience in the British Touring Car Championship.

Having won the 2017 VW Cup Championship with six wins and two second-place finishes, he went on to compete in the BTCC from 2018 onwards. His early seasons included campaigns with Team HARD before moving to Trade Price Cars Racing in 2020. That year, Bobby’s season was cut short due to a major accident.

After recovering in 2021, he returned to the grid with Team HARD for the 2022 season and made an immediate impact, going on to win the Jack Sears Trophy behind the wheel of a Cupra Leon.

Since then, Bobby has continued to compete in the BTCC, including a brief spell in 2024 with the world-renowned West Surrey Racing (WSR) team—one of the most respected outfits on the grid.

Bobby has been racing for over eight years and has set lap records at the world-famous Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium, as well as at several UK circuits.

In 2012, Bobby was identified by the Motor Sports Association (MSA) as a potentially elite competitor. He went on to complete the Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence and is a registered ARDS instructor, providing world-class tutoring and mentorship for other racing drivers. Bobby now also coaches internationally, working with drivers in the Radical Cup and Ferrari Challenge series. His on-track success has also earned him membership to the British Racing Drivers’ Club (BRDC)—an invite-only organisation reserved for the UK’s most accomplished racing talent.
