Bobby had an eventful race day at Thruxton in the British Touring Car Championship, which ultimately ended in disappointment despite his determination and speed. In Race 1, he executed an impressive double pass on the final lap, securing a commendable 10th-place finish, moving him up three positions on a circuit that is notably tricky to overtake. Thompson’s strategic overtaking demonstrated his skill and ability to seize opportunities when they present themself.

However, Race 2 didn’t go as planned for Bobby. Despite running as high as 8th, his race came to an unfortunate end due to a stone piercing through the radiator. The resulting engine temperature issues forced him to retire, leaving him disappointed after showing promising performance earlier in the race.

Unfortunately, the damage sustained in Race 2 prevented Bobby from participating in Race 3. Nonetheless, he remained optimistic about his pace and expressed confidence in his potential to challenge for a podium position, had circumstances allowed.

Overall, Bobby’s race day at Thruxton showcased once again that his Cupra Leon is competitive in the British Touring Car Championship. With his strong performance in Race 1 and the promising pace he displayed throughout the weekend, Bobby and the team continue to prove as a worthy contender in the series.

Bobby commented,: “A weekend of mixed emotions for myself and the team. We really have something special in the car and I really believe we are able to compete up the front of the grid and do great things.

“It was looking like that was going to happen at Thruxton until a stone went through the radiator and ended our day early which hurt even more because we knew the potential in the car.

“As a team, we all need to keep our heads held up and have a positive outlook on the next round at Oulton Park because our recent results haven’t reflected the car we have underneath us.”
