Bobby delivered a remarkable qualifying session in the British Touring Car Championship at Oulton Park for round 5, securing a career-best result. Out of a competitive field of 27 cars, Bobby claimed an impressive 4th position on the grid. The achievement marked a significant milestone in his career, highlighting his growing reputation in the championship. Adding to his success, Thompson topped the timesheets in the second practice session, further establishing his overall pace and signalling his strong potential for the upcoming races on Sunday.
Situated in the picturesque setting of the North West of England, Oulton Park provided the backdrop for Bobby’s fantastic qualifying performance. His 4th place grid position demonstrates the car’s nimble chassis which excels on a very technical circuit. The opening race of the say on Sunday can be viewed live on ITV’s main broadcasting channel for the first time this season.
Bobby commented: “A really exciting Saturday and we are back at the sharp end and where the chassis should be. We still have work to do as we don’t quite make that jump from practice to qualifying that the manufacturer teams have which is a shame but we have to be happy with how the chassis is performing.
“I think I had a bit of time in me as well which I’m going to look into overnight but like I said, I’m delighted to have my best-ever qualifying position and we will be trying to get on the podium in race 1 tomorrow!”
